from the ‘gram :: vol. 7

The closer this book launch creeps the more I feel a sense of accomplishment and get to really, truly, enjoy this feat. Because, I have to confess: up until this point, it’s been tough to enjoy it. There’s been a lot thrown at us these last few weeks. A LOT. All things that have taken my focus and attention off of this big, huge thing to celebrate and onto things that have left me stressed and sleepless, distracted and downright discouraged. But then I read Oswald Chambers’ words about reckless abandon and being totally unrestrained and willing to risk everything, because it’s only through the abandonment of yourself and your circumstances that you will recognize Him.
.
Peter knew all about that. He stepped out of that boat and onto the water when “the wind really was boisterous and the waves really were high,” Chambers writes, “but Peter didn’t see them at first. He didn’t consider them at all; he simply recognized his Lord, stepped out in recognition of Him, and walked on the water. Then he began to take those things around him into account, and instantly, down he went.”
.
“The things surrounding you ARE real,” he goes on to say, “but when you look at them you are immediately overwhelmed, and even unable to recognize Jesus.”
.
The words came at the end of what ended up being a two-hour quiet time as I worked on writing a brand new (free!) 7-day devotional based on Mercy Like Morning (coming soon to the @youversion Bible app!) And I let out a deep breath, because that is exactly what had happened to me. I stepped out in a gusto of faith to write this book and then, weeks before its release, became a little too aware of the storm swirling around us.
.
Today, I sent off the devotional to be formatted and submitted. And am celebrating another victory, another accomplishment, another thing checked off the list. Because there is obedience, and then there is the faith to sit back and trust that He will take that obedience and turn it into whatever golden piece of glory He has planned for it.
.
You guys: this book comes out 3 WEEKS from TODAY! And I’m going to let our circumstances be what they may, and keep choosing to recognize Jesus through it all. #fromjanesblog
